HORMONE-FREE BIRTH CONTROL TRAINING

Learn fertility awareness for side-effect free contraception

What is the Fertility Awareness Method?

The Fertility Awareness method is a symptothermal method that is both non-hormonal and side-effect free. It provides safe and effective contraception while also allowing for general health tracking of ones health and hormones throughout all stages of life. This method teaches you how to use direct real-time observations of your own biomarkers (ie Basal Body Temperature, Cervical Mucus, & Cephalad Shift) to help you determine when you are fertile and infertile.

Whats the difference between Fertility Awareness, Natural Family Planning, and Fertility Awareness Based Methods?

Fertility Awareness (FA) is a term often used interchangeably with the term Natural Family Planning (NFP) and these are often combined into the umbrella of Fertility Awareness Based Methods (FABM’s). All three of these refer to the practice of using cycle observations to determine a persons fertile and infertile phases. There are several methods that use the awareness of ones cycle all with varying success. These methods are often unpopular because they are often grouped despite great differences in their efficacy. For instance, the Sympto-Thermal method has the same efficacy rate of the hormonal pill of 99.6%. In comparison, other methods like the Rhythm and Calendar Method are known to be quite ineffective.

How effective is it as a form of birth control?

With perfect use, the sympto-thermal method is just as effective as the pill (99.6%). But like the pill, it is as effective as it’s user. For those who are using the method as a form of contraception, we will talk about periodic abstinence, barrier methods, and other contraceptive options while you learn to chart.

This IS for you if:

  • You are looking for a natural and effective method for achieving/preventing pregnancy or for overall health tracking

  • You are comfortable with touching and assessing cervical mucus

  • You are committed to mastering the learning curve

  • You are prepared to spend at least 10min on this daily practice

  • You are committed to keeping daily, accurate, and systematic records of BBT and cervical mucus observations (cephalad shift as well if desired or needed)

  • Your partner(s) are aware of this and willing to share the full cooperation and responsibility.

This is NOT for you if:

  • you are on a hormonal form of birth control

  • you don’t have the ability/capacity to build a daily practice

  • you are trying to avoid pregnancy but don’t have the ability/capacity to change your sexual practices while you learn to chart

  • you have a partner(s) who is not on board in making these lifestyle changes

MEET YOUR COACH

I’m Nina! I got my start in the world of Reproductive Health as a Birth and Postpartum Doula. I LOVE my work as a Doula but I quickly realized the need for support stretched far before pregnancy. I can’t tell you how many times women have shared their stories wishing they knew someone could helped sooner. It’s hard enough going through those important moments of life like choosing your birth control, deciding to get off it, solving cycle related issues, or preserving your fertility alone. I know I struggled with this very problem and wish I had someone to help guide me- so I became the person I needed! I took it a step farther than most and got a Masters in Holistic Reproductive Health Education. This is where Cycle Charting comes in. The purpose of this program is to teach you how to track your menstrual cycle and help you feel confident using this method. Whether you are using it as a form of birth control, to learn about your body, to balance hormones, or to get to the bottom of your health challenges, this is a transformational tool that you will use for the rest of your life. You won’t regret it, I promise!
